Job description
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy trucks and excavation machinery. Key duties include running diagnostic tests, repairing engines and transmissions, performing preventative maintenance, maintaining service records and ensure safety compliance.

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Grand Forks, ND 58203: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Minimize breakdowns by performing routine maintenance such as oil changes and inspections, as well as educating drivers and operators when needed
- Conduct inspections of company fleet pertaining to on-road and off-road equipment in accordance with company policy and DOT, OSHA, EPA compliance
- Communicate with co-workers, management, and vendors in a respectful and positive manner
- Work closely with the company owner to prioritize service and repair needs based on job requirements, as well as communicating major repairs and solutions
- Organize and care for shop equipment, tools, and parts in a clean, safe, and efficient manner
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repairs performed
- Maintain written technical and product knowledge for all company equipment
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or certification from a technology program
- Ability to read schematics accurately for troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety standards and quality workmanship
- Able to operate semi-tractors, trailers, haul trucks, and excavation equipment
- Heavy lifting required -- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Requires walking, bending, squatting, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and with others
- Class A or B CDL is preferred
Compensation
$30+ per hour
